Code of practice

The IET provides endorsed providers with a professional code of practice where compliance to the following guidelines is checked as part of the ongoing assessment. Feedback from members attending courses/events is also sought and used for monitoring purposes.
Endorsed training providers must ensure that for their courses and/or events:
- Publicity material gives an accurate indication of the audience for whom the course or event is intended.
- The learning objectives of a course or event are specified and met.
- The presenters/lecturers are qualified to make presentations and to answer questions on the subject matter.
- Where there is an examination or coursework assessment that moderation and/or independent/external examiner's advice is arranged.
- Evaluation of the event by participants takes place and is used for continuous improvement.
- All venues used for events comply with Health and Safety Regulations.
- The IET’s name is used correctly in accordance with the guidelines, on all publicity material and in communication with the IET they will:
- Appoint a senior member of staff to be the IET's contact point.
- Notify the IET of any changes in their company and individual contact details.
- Ensure up-to-date information is supplied for the IET's Events and training search.
- Provide the IET, annually, with a full list of the names and membership numbers of IET members who have attended their courses/events and who have expressed their willingness to be contacted by the IET seeking their views.
- Provide the IET annually with evidence that an evaluation process is in place and that quality assurance procedures are continuously applied and that any recommendations for improvements have been taken in to consideration.
- Provide the IET with an analysis of customer feedback for the courses/events, which have taken place.
Once endorsement has been awarded providers may also be required to:
- Make a reduced rate place available on one course per year, to be used by the IET for a member to attend as a full participant and provide a report to the IET.
- Make available a member of staff to contribute to the work of the IET’s endorsement panel.
