Accreditation of degree programmes

The benefits of accreditation for educational institutions and how programmes are accredited.

Why accredit your programmes?

In a competitive international market, students and industry are demanding more. Accreditation of your programmes can help you to:

  • attract the best students;
  • provide students with a good foundation for professional registration;
  • meet the needs of industry;
  • benchmark programmes against other institutions in the UK and internationally;
  • become an Academic Partner and access a range of further benefits.

Accredited programmes assist individuals by demonstrating that they meet some or all of the underpinning knowledge and understanding requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer. This is achieved through the assessment of programmes against defined and accepted standard criteria.

To determine if a programme is accredited, you will need to ensure that you have the correct title, designation and the year the cohort enrolled into year one of the programme.

Below are lists of currently accredited/approved programmes by the IET.
