Professional Registration

The IET is licensed by the Engineering Council to award professional engineering qualifications. We have a straightforward application process in place to facilitate professional registration for the following globally recognised titles;

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng);
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng);
  • Engineering Technician (EngTech);
  • ICT Technician (ICT Tech);
  • Chartered IT Professional (CITP).

A professionally registered employee is more valuable to your organisation because they have demonstrated proven knowledge, understanding, competence and commitment and been awarded a widely recognised qualification to recognise this.

Support from the IET

A structured pathway towards professional registration

Your Regional Development Manager will work with your organisation to develop your employees and structure their path towards professional registration.

In-house workshops for your engineers and technicians, including graduates, apprentices and early career engineers, can be provided covering the following:

  • Introduction to the IET
  • IET membership
  • Professional registration
  • Initial Professional Development (IPD)
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Our online skills recording tool - Career Manager

Company Based Registration Scheme (CBRS)

A structured programme of support for those ready to apply for professional Registration, including 1:1 advice and feedback from IET Professional Registration Advisors (PRAs) on site.

This scheme enables potential registrants to progress their professional registration applications at a similar pace, offering employees a supportive group environment in which they can confidently work their way through the application process. We can also arrange professional registration interviews onsite where numbers of candidates permit.

The IET can provide your employees with the support they need to achieve professional registration at every stage of their career.

Build your profile

Partnering with the IET will allow your organisation to be part of a community that maintains a collective voice on changes to society, education and Government.

The IET calls on the collective opinions of its partners in industry through inviting them to participate in round table events, networking days and industry surveys.

Your organisation will have the opportunity to build on its local presence by getting involved with an IET Local Network (LN). These communities host regular local activities, meetings and events.

You will also be offered the opportunity to share your organisational successes by submitting editorial to our Partner News publication and develop a communications link between you, other IET partners in industry, academia and the IET.
