Get employees registered

Take advantage of an on site visit to see how we can help your engineers become qualified.  Employees with recognised qualifications such as CEng, IEng or EngTech formally demonstrate your company's expertise and experience.

Getting your employees professionally registered

The first step to take is to ensure that you are registered with us as a business partner.

You then need to ensure that your employees are all members of the IET.  You can do this online by getting them to sign up or you can sign up for one of our group membership schemes

The next step is to get your employees professionally registered.  The IET offers lots of support, advice and guidance and there are a number of ways in which we can help.

How the IET can help

The IET produces various booklets which provide a clear guide to employers on how they can support their employees through the registration process.

The IET also has local professional registration advisors who are happy to provide guidance and support and trained IET industrial representatives in companies providing one point of contact with regard to professional development and professional registration for both the company and the IET.

Getting registered

If your employees are just starting out on the route to professional registration and all they need is some initial help and guidance, they can register their interest for professional development by completing the RPD form.

Registering is simple and free and in return your employees will be sent an information pack providing guidance on professional registration and a monthly email bulletin detailing relevant events, books, tips to help with completing the professional registration application form and anything that the IET is doing that may be relevant to your employees professional development.

The IET also offers lots of face to face support for both individuals and groups which is more appropriate for those employees who are further down the path of getting professionally registered.

This support is available in the form of talks and workshops in your local area which provide an understanding of professional registration and a walk through the route of getting registered.

When we organise talks or workshops we contact business partner organisations in the local area to inform them of the talk or workshop taking place.  This is your opportunity to notify us of any individuals that you would like to send along.  However, we want to be flexible to your needs so if you have a large group of people who you think will benefit from the workshop then get in touch with your local regional development manager and we will try our best to organise an in-company talk for you.

Professional registration talks

The professional registration talks are usually arranged by local networks themselves and are designed to be informal so that anyone from the local area can attend, including local businesses.

The talks inform your employees of the process of getting qualified, tips for completing the application form, and an opportunity to raise their queries in a question and answer session enabling them to network with speakers or local professional registration advisors.

These talks are usually held in the evening and take place on company sites, local university venues or town halls etc and are aimed at being as easily accessible as possible so you do not need to book a place on them, you can simply just turn up.

Professional registration workshops

The professional registration workshops are organised by the IET and are aimed at giving your employees the opportunity to talk on a one-to-one basis about applying for Chartered, Incorporated or Engineering Technician qualifications.  They can book a 20 minute appointment with an advisor to discuss their individual case and go though their application or CV.

The professional registration workshops are normally held during the late afternoon and go through to the early evening and, like the talks, tend to be held at company sites, local university venues or town halls.
