The third IET NW Business Partners Golf Day kicked off on a beautiful autumn day at the Carden Park Golf Resort near Chester.

Once again there was a great response. It was a super corporate day where engineers from the IET business partner companies were able to entertain their customers and suppliers and simply relax with their colleagues.  It was great for networking and team building.

The following 18 companies participated this year: A.B.B. Ltd, Aerotech Design Consultants Ltd, Airbus, BAE Systems, Bentley Motors Limited Boulting Group plc British Nuclear Group Central Networks DD Heating EA Technology FIT Direction The Manufacturing Institute, P Tec Automotive Ltd, PB Power Ltd, RW Consultants Siemens Transportation, Unipart and United Utilities,

Once again, the Airbus Trophy went to the first place individual stableford. Boulting Holdings kindly donated a golf bag to this year’s winner, David Hughes- EA Technology.

The second individual prize went to Trevor Braun from ABB Ltd.  British Nuclear Group supplied a smart overnight case. The third individual prize was won by Mark Winterburn- Siemens Transportation.

Bentley Motors Limited donated a rare and sought after set of their racing car models. 

Team results


The first team stableford went to one of the Airbus teams which included P. Pheasey, J O’Brian, D Middleton and T Wiggins.

The prizes were sponsored by Norco, Siemens, and Airbus which consisted of golf shirts and golf jackets.

The second team stableford was awarded to one of Siemens Transport teams.  Their players were J Maxwell, A Norford, A Wallbank and R Yarlett.

ABB Ltd kindly supplied a golfer’s favourite prize, golf balls and HSBC supplied a set of repairers.

The third team stableford prize went to E.A. Technology which included E Hamilton, D Hughes, C Lowsley and A Thomas.

United Utilities donated wine for all these winners.  And to complete the fun, the 'Nearest the Pin' competition was won by Graham Massey from Airbus. P Tec Automotive Ltd kindly donated a super bottle of Malt Whiskey for this celebration.

Finally Craig Train won the Longest Drive - prize, a bottle of brandy, donated by ABB Ltd.

New venue for 2007!! This year’s golf day will be held at the Worsley Golf Club, Monton, Eccles near Manchester on Friday afternoon 7th September.
