The Resettlement Training Centre (RTC) based at Aldershot, trains personnel leaving the armed forces for a second career in civilian life.

It delivers some 50 different courses from a suite of hands on electrical engineering courses highly valued in the industry, to a range of management courses reflecting Service Leavers’ management experience. They also deliver a range of courses in the building department to provide building skills for maintenance, refurbishment and new construction.

RTC staff liaise with industry representatives and employers to keep abreast of commercial developments in order to deliver relevant training and qualifications that are recognised in the civilian world.

Focussing on electrical training, the department runs up to 20 courses including Domestic Electrical Installation, 16th Edition Wiring Regulations, Inspection and Testing of  Electrical Installations, Inspection and Testing of  Electrical Equipment and Part ‘P’ which all lead to recognised qualifications. Course research is underway at present exploring the way forward for next year with consideration being given to expanding into the industrial as well as the domestic market.

As part of the resettlement package, Service Leavers are able to undertake work placements with companies that may be able to offer them employment. It is cost free to the employer and allows the Service Leaver to have a taste of the industry and the employer to observe them at work.

Service Leavers intend to seek work in the electrical engineering disciplines either as self employed or with companies and feedback from employers having recruited from us is very positive. Service personnel are dedicated, hard working, honest and reliable and make excellent employees.

The RTC always welcomes visits from prospective employers and industry representatives in order that they may see the excellent facilities for themselves and meet the students. Should a visit not be practical, then employers can access the CTP website and post any job vacancies they my have on the ‘Rightjob’ section. This area of the site is visited by our Service Leavers in their last 6 months and enables them to apply to you on line.
