British Nuclear Group Sellafield Ltd has recently succeeded in gaining re-accreditation of its graduate electrical development programme with the IET.
Training re-accreditation
The scheme has been accredited for a further three years and is a major selling point for the recruitment of electrical graduates - the accreditation of the scheme means that graduates who follow the programme can follow an approved, structured path towards professional registration as a Chartered Engineer.
The scheme is now offered as a unified scheme, merging the two previous schemes that were focused separately on Risley & Sellafield respectively. The merger supports the overall integration of the two sites, offers graduates more flexibility in their development and also reduces the costs involved in scheme maintenance
The accreditation process concluded with an assessment visit by senior figures from the IET in November. The IET team were met by the scheme management team: Grant Gilmour - Senior Coordinator, Sue Postlethwaite - Graduate Development Manager, Ian Belger - Risley Sponsor and Rob Griffiths - Sellafield Sponsor.
