Requirements

For professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or ICT Technician (ICTTech), based on job role, three requirements must be satisfied:

  • The candidate must be performing a mapped job role;
  • The candidate must hold a suitable forces trade qualification;
  • The candidate must have achieved a minimum standard during their annual assessment.

Normally, in order to register, evidence has to be supplied to prove that a candidate is competent. This takes the form of a written report of projects or pieces of work that demonstrate competence.

Because the IET has identified the competencies required to perform the tasks outlined by the job role descriptions, no further evidence is required.

The applicant has only to tell the IET what education and trade qualifications they hold and a brief summary of their job role history.

They also need to get a line manager to confirm that they have obtained the required grades in their standard MOD annual assessment. These grades are outlined below.
