The North West’s apprenticeship stars were revealed at a glamorous award event in September, held at Legends, Bentley Motors Ltd, Crewe.
The regional North West winners of the National Training Awards and National Apprenticeship Awards 2012 were announced at a high profile awards ceremony, covering the areas of Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Warrington.
MBDA Missile Systems scooped three awards on the evening. Heather Peach won the EAL Award for North West Advanced Apprentice of the Year, Bethan Sherbourne won the North West Higher Apprentice of the year title and the company itself was presented with The BAE Systems North West Large Employer of the Year Awards 2012.
“The Higher Apprenticeship at MBDA has allowed me to further my education, develop my confidence, and launch me into a working environment,” says Bethan.
“Academically, I have achieved an NVQ Level 3, completed a further NVQ Level 4 and attained a First Class BA Honours Degree in Business Management.
“Personally, I have improved presentation skills, communication skills and personal effectiveness at the same time as earning a good wage. Professionally, I am recognised as a valuable asset, offered travel opportunities and have brilliant prospects ahead of me”.
"MBDA is delighted at their continuing success in the 2012 National Training and Apprenticeship Awards,” continues Bernard Waldron MBE, director of Manufacturing, MBDA (UK).
“These prestigious awards are further testimony to the ethos of our entire community in supporting the development of our young people, culminating in both their individual recognition and that of the company as a regional benchmark in career development. We are proud that our efforts continue to promote the Bolton area as a high-technology industrial leader."
