What is Professional Advantage?

Professional Advantage is the IET's membership package for early career engineers between 5 and 6 years from graduation, offering a discounted membership fee of only £90 per year up to a maximum of 2 years instead of our standard rate of £137 (for 2014). Professional Advantage is the third step of our IET Advantage programme and follows on from our IET Graduate Advantage and Career Advantage packages. For more information on Graduate Advantage and Career Advantage packages please visit About IET Advantage.

The key benefit of Professional Advantage is that it is designed, as the name would suggest, to guide you on the way to being a professional engineer. If you are working towards professional registration (CEng or IEng) we will provide you with a plan of suggested goals to guide you towards registration, building on the goals provided under Career Advantage. Throughout the Professional Advantage membership period the IET will be supporting your career and keeping you up-to-date with events, knowledge and communities, which will be important to keep you up-to-date in your engineering career.

Yes, being on Graduate or Career Advantage is not a prerequisite for joining Professional Advantage. As long as you meet the eligibility criteria for Professional Advantage you will be able to take advantage of this package.

You will need to be, or become, a Member with MIET to be eligible to join Professional Advantage in either of the years.
