Student technician registration

Introducing professional registration as part of a student’s work placement year.

Graduates need every advantage to promote themselves in an increasingly competitive working environment. When they are surrounded by individuals with similar qualifications, how do they stand out from the crowd?

Professional registration from the Engineering Council [new window] provides formal international recognition of not only knowledge and understanding but also the real work experience and competence required to succeed in today’s competitive working environment.

What’s involved?

Your students may have achieved the competencies required to obtain professional registration while on their work placement year.

Professional registration as part of a student’s placement year has been designed to enhance your placement programme with minimal impact on your current processes.

For a student to become professional registered as ICT Technician (ICTTech) or Engineering Technician (EngTech) they have to provide evidence that have met the competencies set by UK-SPEC [new window] or ICTTech standard [new window]. The IET will work closely with you and your placement department to adapt the placement programme to ensure a student has the opportunity to meet these competencies.
