What is it?

Postcard advertising the Write around the World Competition

Win a trip around the world courtesy of the written premium competition!

All you have to do is write a paper (between 2000 - 3000 words in length) on a topic appropriate to the activities of the IET and submit it, with a covering email, to the following email address by the deadline:

awards@theiet.org

The paper must be your own work and be written exclusively for the competition. As a guide to the standard of entries you can read previous winning papers (see right hand menu).

Please note that entries are now being accepted for the 2009 WATW Competition.  The winner will be announced in June next year.

By entering the Write around the World competition, entrants agree to be bound by the following rules:

  • The paper must be on a topic appropriate to the activities of the IET, ranging from bio-engineering through manufacturing and management to wiring regulations.
  • Each entrant may submit only one entry.
  • The paper should be approximately 2000-3000 words long.
  • The author should state that the paper results from his or her own work and is not part of a team effort.
  • The paper should have been written specifically for the Written Premiums competition and should not have been published elsewhere.
  • The IET reserves the right to publish entries.
  • The winner must depart on his/her around the world trip within 2 years of entering the competition (i.e. within 2 years of the deadline), or forfeit their right to the prize.
