Scholarships for prospective undergraduate students

Commencing an IET accredited degree course* at university in 2008 or 2009?  Apply for an IET Scholarship and gain up to £3,000 cash per year to support you throughout your course!

Scholarships for students in financial need

52 awards of £1,000 per year

These scholarships are intended to provide financial support to talented students who are considering undertaking an IET accredited course in the UK or Ireland and who expect to obtain an average of 3 B's in their A' Levels (or equivalent).  Although the Scholarships Committee will take an applicant's financial situation (based on projected income / out goings) into consideration, parental income is not a consideration and any applicant expecting to receive a DfES loan or grant is eligible to apply.  

Scholarships for outstanding students

These prestigious scholarships are awarded for 'Engineering Excellence', i.e. to students who will achieve a minimum of three 'A' grades at GCE 'A' level (or equivalent), or, in the case of the Power Academy (item 2 below), to students who will achieve 3 'good' A' level grades (and who pass an additional selection process):

2 awards of £3,000 and 17 awards of £1,000 per year

To encourage outstanding students to undertake accredited* MEng or BEng degree courses in the UK or Ireland.

61 awards of £2,200 per year plus work placements and other benefits available

To encourage students to undertake an IET accredited degree course* in electrical / power engineering at one of the universities participating in the Power Academy (i.e. Cardiff, Imperial College London, Queen's University, Belfast, Manchester, Southampton or Strathclyde). 

Additional scholarships for women

10 awards of £1,000 per year

These additional awards are set aside each year to encourage women of high ability to enter the engineering and technology professions (via any IET accredited course).
