Scholarships for students starting university in 2009 or 2010
Please note; you don't need to select a particular scholarship for which to apply (the Scholarships Committee allocates scholarships as appropriate to all successful applicants).
Awards for outstanding students
Jubilee Scholarship & BP Faraday Lecture Scholarship (12 awards @ £1,000 (Jubilee) and £3,000 (Faraday) per annum)
To assist outstanding students embarking on IET accredited* MEng degree courses in the UK or Ireland to obtain professional qualifications in areas such as IT and electrical, electronic, manufacturing or related engineering.
Belling Engineering Scholarship (1 award @ £3,000 per annum)
To assist an outstanding student embarking on an accredited* BEng or MEng degree course in the UK or Ireland.
Cisco Systems Scholarship (1 award @ £1,000 per annum)
To assist a student wishing to undertake an accredited* MEng degree course at university in the UK or Ireland.
National Electronics Council Scholarship (4 awards available @ £1,000 per annum)
To assist British students with A Levels, Advanced Higher, BTEC or Advanced GNVQ qualifications, entering IET accredited* MEng degree courses in areas such as Electronics, Computer or Information Engineering, in the UK or Ireland.
IET Engineering Degree Scholarships for Women (10 awards @ £1,000 per annum)
For the purpose of encouraging women students in their penultimate or final year of college, or sixth form, to enter the engineering profession.
The Power Academy (61 awards @ £2,200 available in 2008)
The Power Academy is an engineering scholarship fund for students who are studying (or who would like to study) on an IET accredited degree course* in electrical engineering at participating universities (Cardiff, Imperial College London, Queen's University, Belfast, Manchester, Southampton or Strathclyde). The Power Academy will offer you support and finance for the duration of your university course, as well as providing you with a summer placement with one of the partner companies.
Awards for students in financial need
IET FUSE Scholarship (50 awards @ £1,000 per annum)
To assist students of high ability in need of financial support, who are in their penultimate year of college, or who are about to commence an IET accredited degree course* in the UK or Ireland. Applicants must be receiving a DIUS loan or grant.
Hawtin Scholarship (1 award @ £1,000 per annum)
Awarded to students, from the North West of England, who are about to commence an IET accredited degree course* in the UK or Ireland. Applicants must be receiving a DIUS loan or grant.
William Morley Bursary (No. of awards & Value: discretionary (minimum: £500))
To assist needy electrical, electronic, manufacturing or information engineering students who are citizens of either Zimbabwe, or the UK who have offers of places at university to study a degree course in Zimbabwe or, a course accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa or, an accredited UK degree course
