Hawtin Scholarship

What is it?

The Hawtin Scholarship is open to students from the North West of England who will commence their UK accredited degree course or course covered under the terms of the mutual accreditation agreement with the IEI in the Republic of Ireland, in the next academic Session.

Students must be in receipt of a DfES loan or grant, and must have received an offer of a place at a university or other place of higher education from the date on which the Scholarship begins. If the offer of a place is conditional on performance in an examination, the result of which may not be known until after the closing date, this fact must be stated in the application.

In her will the late Mrs Mary Hawtin, and her husband Frank Hawtin, left a legacy to provide Scholarships to enable high ability students from the North West of England to obtain professional qualifications in electrical, electronic, manufacturing or related engineering.

The Institution currently offers one IET Hawtin Scholarship each year.  The Scholarship has a maximum value of £1,000 per annum and is tenable for the duration of the accredited degree course.
