Scholarships for students commencing their 2nd, 3rd or final year in 2008

N.B. When making an application, you do not need to select a particular scholarship from the list below; the Scholarships Committee will decide on which scholarship you will be allocated (if your application is successful).  

2008 ambition awards logo

Lord Lloyd of Kilgerran Memorial Prize  (1 prize @ £1,000 per annum)
Awarded to candidates on an IET accredited degree course* in the UK who agree to undertake final year courses (and a project) which are relevant to Mobile Radio.

IET grants (3 awards @ £1,000)
Awarded to deserving students who are about to commence the second or third year of an IET accredited degree course* in October.

IET undergraduate scholarships  (8 awards @ £1,000) 
Awarded to final year students who have demonstrated their high academic calibre throughout their IET accredited* course and in their examinations.

The Power Academy (61 awards @ £2,200 available in 2008)          
The Power Academy is an engineering scholarship fund for students who are studying (or who would like to study) on an IET accredited degree course* in electrical engineering at participating universities (Cardiff, Imperial College London, Queen's University, Belfast, Manchester, Southampton or Strathclyde).  The Power Academy will offer you support and finance for the duration of your university course, as well as providing you with a paid summer placement with one of the partner companies.

Baroness Platt of Writtle Award

Awarded to a student in his/her final year of study on an IET accredited* course that provides the academic foundation for registration as an Incorporated Engineer.

The E3 Academy (14 awards @ £2,500 available in 2008)          
The E3 Academy offers sponsorship to undergraduate 1st or 2nd year students studying Electrical Energy Engineering at the University of Nottingham or the University of Newcastle. The award is for the duration of the degree course and consists of eight weeks paid summer vacation training (annually) with one of the partner companies.

Awards for students in particular financial need

William Morley Bursary No. of awards & Value: discretionary (minimum £500)
To assist needy students who are undertaking a degree course in Zimbabwe or, a course accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa or, an accredited UK degree course.
