Belling Engineering Scholarship

What is it?

2009 ambition awards logo

The Belling Engineering Scholarship is open to British citizens who have a minimum of three ‘A’ grades at CGE ‘A’ Level or at least three ‘A’ grades at Advanced Higher, and have been offered a place to study on an accredited course in the United Kingdom or a course covered under the terms of the mutual accreditation agreement with the IEI in the Republic of Ireland.

This scholarship has been set up in memory of the late Charles Reginald Belling, who was born at Bodmin, Cornwall in 1884. In 1912 he started his own business in Enfield, manufacturing electric heaters, electric water heaters, electric cookers and immersion heaters. The Belling scholarships are available to support high ability students who wish to obtain professional qualifications in electrical or manufacturing engineering.

The IET currently offers at least one Belling Engineering Scholarship each year. The scholarship has a value of £3,000 per annum and is tenable for the duration of the accredited BEng or MEng degree course.
