D H Thomas Travel Bursary

What is it?

The D H Thomas Travel Bursary is intended to provide financial support to IET members who wish to undertake research in Europe (preferably in Germany) related to either their postgraduate education or their professional interests. The award is open to members wishing to broaden their professional experience through undertaking a study tour, working in industry or participating in a European conference or seminar.

The D H Thomas Travel Bursary was established In memory of David H Thomas who was a member of the Institution for 68 years. Mr Thomas studied in Dresden before the Second World War as a Joseph Swan Scholar of the Institution.  For nearly thirty years he was Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle.

One award of £500 available biennially.
