Princess Royal Scholarship
What is it?
The Princess Royal Scholarship is named after Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in honour of her work overseas and her enormous commitment to developing countries.
One Scholarship, worth £1000, is offered annually to enable a member of the IET to use his or her professional knowledge and experience to provide a benefit to an underprivileged community in a developing country or similar.
Applicants must normally be resident in the United Kingdom. The award must be for a specific programme of work and not for the enhancement of professional experience. The nature of the work must be commensurate with the activities of the IET. In assessing the applications, the IET will take into account such factors as:
- Soundness and worthiness of the work programme.
- The evidence of the ability of the applicant to contribute towards the work programme.
- Whether or not there is a genuine need for the award (in so far as assistance is not available from conventional sources of finance).
