How to apply
Vital information - before submitting your nomination, please note that:
Batches of entries are collated for consideration by the IET Scholarships Committee at intervals throughout the year. Please apply for a Travel Award at least two months before your proposed travels. (This allows sufficient time for collation of a reasonably sized batch of entries for consideration by the Committee.) Please remember that it may take more than 2 months for your application to be processed and, although we will make every effort to advise you of whether or not your application has been successful before you depart on your trip, this may not be possible.
Competition for IET Travel Awards is fierce and if you are to stand a good chance of success then it is recommended that you provide reasonably detailed and very well thought out answers in those sections of the application form requiring you to outline what you will get out of attending the conference. Your application should also be supported by a strong reference: Please ensure that your referee returns the reference section of the application form to us independently of yourself.
- If it is your intention to attend a conference, it is likely that the Committee will view your application more favourably if your proposal includes some additional activity, such as a tour of local industry/academia, a visit to a research establishment or some form of personal research activity.
- To apply, you must be a member of the IET (see right hand menu).
Applications for travel awards may be received from 1 January to 30 November.
Applications should be supported with documentary evidence of the travel intention (i.e. letter from sponsor, or copy of the invitation from the conference organiser, research department, company or academic establishment etc.) Where a visa is required a scanned copy of the relevant document should be enclosed, or confirmation given that this has been sought from the relevant authorities. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
