Present around the World Competition

Stage 1 - local events

This represents your opportunity to win some hard cash courtesy of the IET.  Just talk for 10 minutes on an Engineering or Technology subject of your choice and be prepared to answer questions for a further five minutes!  You can cover a subject studied for your degree or a project you're involved in at work.

The judging is split 25% technical content, 75% presentation skills, enabling young professionals at varying levels of their studies or career to participate.

How to enter?

Many Younger Members Sections hold Present around the World Competitions (formerly known as Short Papers Evenings) as part of their programme of events. This would normally be some time between October and May.  For further details of the first round heats contact your IET Local Network or Younger Members' Section (see right hand menu). You don't need to be an IET member in order to enter the competition and the winner and runner-up of each local heat is entitled to a year's free membership as part of their prize.

Prize:

  • Winner receives £150 & the Runner-up receives £75.
  • Winner can be put forward for the Global Final and the opportunity to win £1,000!

For more information on the Global Final click the relevant link on the right hand menu.

All the information a Younger Members' Section needs in order to host a Present around the World Competition can be found in the Competitions Information Pack for Younger Members' Sections (see 'Downloads' section in the right hand menu).
