Baroness Platt of Writtle Award
What is it?
The Worshipful Company of Engineers (WCE) and the IET seek to recognise an outstanding undergraduate engineering student with the Baroness Platt of Writtle Award. The award is worth £1,000 and is made annually. The applicant should:
- Be a final year student undertaking a degree course leading to Incorporated Engineer registration with the Engineering Council (UK).
- Be a British Citizen or have resided in the UK for at least five years.
- Have excelled in his or her studies, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate leadership quality.
WCE is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, and the award is one of the many ways in which the organisation are able to recognise talented Incorporated Engineers of the future.
The award honours the Baroness Platt of Writtle CBE FEng, who herself is an engineering icon and high flyer, who continues to work tirelessly for the profession.
The student will be invited to an awards ceremony in London, at a City Livery dinner, all expenses paid.
