Web-based version of Inspec Database on show at Online Information

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world's largest professional engineering and technical societies and a leading international scientific and technical publisher, will be demonstrating the new web-based version of the Inspec Database at the Online Information show 2007 at Olympia Exhibition Centre, London, from 4-6 December.

Inspec Direct is a web-based version of the highly respected Inspec Database and will be available directly from the IET from January, 2008.

The new Inspec Direct platform will feature a user focused design that will support all levels of scientific and technical research in the corporate, industrial, government and academic sectors. Inspec Direct will provide online access to abstracts and citationsto millions of high quality, relevant peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings and technical reports, via a secure and intuitive interface featuring state-of-the-art indexing, search features and analytical functionality.

The Inspec Database is an incredibly valuable source for scientists, engineers and information professionals around the world and Inspec Direct enhances that by providing a powerful precision research tool with highly sophisticated support functionality that allows users to analyze, store and communicate their findings. We have worked incredibly hard, for the last two years, in partnership with information professionals, librarians and researchers to develop and deliver a platform that presents search and access to content in a way that saves time, delivers exact results, and provides consistently excellent indexing and classification performance.” 

IET at Online Information 2007: IET Inspec will be on stand 346 at Online Information 2007. Visitors will be able to experience Inspec Direct and speak to staff about the product. Inspec Direct is currently being made available for a free trial to researchers and information professionals, to enable them to gain an insight into the features and functionalities available on the new platform.

Other new products from the IET will also be available including two new Research Journals, Renewable Power Generation and Synthetic Biology. A third new title Power Electronics will follow in 2008.

Inspec delivers access to more than 3,800 scientific and technical journals and more than 3,000 conference proceedings each year.
