Senior CMS Developer

The role is to take the technical lead to provide support and development effort for the delivery of new and existing IET websites as well as working as part a team to deliver work as directed by your manager and the business.

Reports to: Web/UX Development Team Leader

Accountable to: Digital Services Manager

Hours: 35 hours per week, exclusive of meal breaks, plus as many as required to fulfil the needs of the post

Band: C

Location: Michael Faraday House, Six Hills, Way, Stevenage

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the IET’s suite of online products, websites and other digital offerings.
  • Responsible for responding to problems and faults reported by internal staff and external users/members, diagnosing these and taking necessary action to provide a solution.
  • To work as part of the Digital Services team to maintain, develop and support the CMS
  • To take the technical lead supporting the Digital Services team in the creation, editing and development of HTML, CSS and other relevant coding languages
  • Responsible for delivering development requests as approved by the Digital Steering Group work steam. Keeping the business, team lead and Digital Services manager up to date on progress. Ensuring all work estimated, planned and actioned appropriately.
  • To manage online help desk user queries within agreed SLAs.
  • To work as part of the wider IT team to deliver key strategic projects and products.
  • Involvement in planning medium/long term projects.
  • To deliver working code, to agreed industry standards, as directed by manager and or business need.
  • Responsible for testing and for supporting the development of new and enhanced Web/Internet services, as well as for resolving problems in existing services.
  • Responsible for alerting colleagues and management to technical and other Internet developments of relevance for IET services.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with or good understand of Sass CSS
  • Experience with using and/or creating Pattern Libraries
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or other popular webmaster tools.
  • Experience with MVC, Rest APIs,
  • Experience with CSS3, DHTML, XSL, AJAX, JQuery, JavaScript
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Understanding of project management principles, preferably Agile.
  • Understanding of requirements gathering and interpretation
