Regional Development Manager (Midlands and North Wales)

This role is primarily a field- based role. The role will concentrate on the engineering, IT and Communications sectors to sell the benefits of membership and the complete package of supporting products and services, maximising revenue from membership sales and increasing the IET market presence within a specified geographical region.

Reports to: Area Manager, Membership Recruitment, Membership & Professional Development

Accountable to: Area Manager, Membership Recruitment, Membership & Professional Development

Hours: 35 hours per week, exclusive of meal breaks, plus as many as required to fulfill the needs of the post

Salary/Band: Personal Contract

Location: Home Based (Midlands and North Wales)

Job summary

The RDM is primarily a field- based role. The role will concentrate on the engineering, IT and Communications sectors to sell the benefits of membership and the complete package of supporting products and services, maximising revenue from membership sales and increasing the IET market presence within a specified geographical region.  

The RDM will develop new opportunities for membership growth providing long-term relationships with existing IET Business Partners.  In addition, the role will require significant networking within the wider engineering community.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To achieve agreed annual membership sales targets;
  • To proactively work with existing partners to develop membership opportunities within region;
  • Develop new membership & partnership opportunities within region;
  • Effectively share information within membership recruitment team to provide further membership recruitment opportunities in national and international organisations;
  • Generate leads from clients to contribute to membership and registration pipeline;
  • Proactively support MPD in achieving professional registration figures;
  • Regularly provide feedback from marketplace on competitors, and relevance of IET products and services;
  • Prepare and submit monthly and other reports as requested by sales management;
  • Attend and proactively contribute to sales meetings and training;
  • To undertake any other duties and projects at the request of the line manager;
  • To be familiar with the Health and Safety and Fire policies for the organisation and to attend mandatory updates where required.

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent qualification;
  • 5 years proven track record in sales and/or customer relationship management;
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills;
  • IT literate;
  • Familiar with Project Management;
  • Full driving License;
  • Experience of home based working.

Desirable

  • Account Management experience;
  • Knowledge of the IT & communications sectors;
  • Experience within a membership organisation.
