I'm currently working as an Electrical Engineer in the steel industry.

I'm time served and have worked my way up to Engineer level and have also completed a part time BEng In Industrial Electronics & Control.

Last year I was successful with my IEng Application , to gain CEng status i have enrolled on a part time MSc in Manufacturing Engineering which I am half way through.

Both courses appear to be on the IET accredited courses.

My question is as my MSc is not an electrical biased course but very relevant in the industry I am in. Will this be frowned up when I submit by CEng application ?

The person I spoke to at the IET said not , i just require Masters level learning and as long as its relevant in your current job the IET will not dictate what courses you should choose.

Any comments other comments on this ?.

CEng is awarded by the Engineering Council - it doesn't refer to any particular branch of engineering.

In addition, the IET is not just about Electrical.

A successful accredited Masters in an engineering discipline will provide evidence of Masters level learning.

However, another key difference between IEng and CEng is the level at which you demonstrate your experience in creating and applying innovative solutions to the engineering field. At CEng you should be pushing the boundaries of engineering.

Please consider this when preparing your CEng evidence.
