I'm contemplating taking out private health insurance for my family. As an individual I gather that you are likely to pay much more than a company would for corporate membership. So are there any providers that have discounted rates for IET members?

No the IET does not have a special arrangement with any health insurance companies. However HMCA (see http://www.hmca.co.uk/) offers discounted rates to members of associations and societies. Please note the IET does not endorse this company.
