Hi there,
I have found a product that I was wanting to use in my circuit but then realised the package style was WLCSP or micro SMD. I have never encountered this style before and was wondering what considerations there are when using this on PCBs? I.e. would the PCB manufacturing process have to be altered? Can micro SMD be used alongside normal SMD? What are the advantages and disadvantages of micro SMD? Many thanks, Steve |

I would suggest you talk to pcb fabrication houses about their capability with regards to micro SMDs. These type of components are so small and compact that makes manual assembly and repair difficult. Also, it adds complexity to the PCB layout job because of the increased number of components that can be placed in an area thus making the board more dense.
