We have been asked to look at an application which uses ZigBee wireless communications to transfer start/stop, synchronisation and emergency stop information between separate parts of a lifting machine.
The relevant C type standard requires EN13849 Pld for the wireless comms and PLc for the hardwired parts. The standard defines PLd for the comms in terms of the likely error rate in the comms system. To save me a lot of research, does anyone know if ZigBee is a suitable medium for this application? The situation is analogous to the cable less pendant controllers used on many cranes. |

Hello Doug,
I would envisage a problem with Zigbee in that security of channel comms may not be verifiable. It may be better to approach a company such as Steute, link > http://www.steute.co.uk/uk/wir...position-switches.html < who's portfolio includes wireless high integrity switching products. |
