Hi all,
We currently use the Bender IRDH 375 B Line insulation Monitor for determining insualtion health of cables to subsea equipment. We use voltages up to 990 V AC single phase 60 Hz. I am looking for options to this unit if anyone knows of such. Suggestions welcome, however we do need to relay an analogue reading of the LIM value and Alarm contact as with the Bender. The unit should be adaptive to the field conditions as we do have very long external cables to the subsea equipment. |

Hi,
Try Schneider Electric http://www.schneider-electric..../vigilohm-system.page Until I retired I worked for them and investigated the use of this product on 660V ac IT earthed systems with cable lengths up to 10km. I know the some of the range can go to 1,500V 50/60Hz. As ever with engineering the devil is in the detail. If you need to speak to someone let me know where you are located and I should be able to find a contact. Regards ------------------------- John Pittwood IEng FIET ------------------------ |

Hi,
The Bender is the most common LIM used in subsea systems and is pretty much the default choice. I have used them in several subsea control system designs as they are well suited to long umbilicals. Is there a reason you want to change? Are you having problems with Bender? Regards, Allan |

Can we use a bender unit (Bender IRDH 375 B) with data logger to monitor the cable insulation - for the purpose of railway location wiring.

VED,
First is this for UK railways? If yes bender is the only insulation monitor approved for Network Rail installations. You need to check with Bender or your NR contact that you have the correct units, as not all the range has approval. Hi John
Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is for the UK railways. I will check with NR whether or not the unit in the question is approved. Rehards Ved |
