Who collects, banks and administers the thruppence WEEE that I was charged on each of the GU10 LED lamps I purchased from a wholesalers.
Bearing in mind they are supposed to last twenty five years I assume the three pennies are not invested for the twenty five years until their end of life, but shared out now. Andy Edited: 13 February 2013 at 10:20 PM by sparkingchip |

I have messed up the right hand margin of this post now, still at least it's not the whole forum now!

Andy....are you ok? I'm thinking that maybe the pressure has got to you?
Oh well, at least you can be the other part of my comedy double act. I reckon we've hit pay-dirt. Zs |

I bought three LED GU10 lamps from Wilts and they charged me a nine pence WEEE charge, thruppence each, I realised I don't actually know what happens to this money and who gets to bank it after Wilts pass it on.
Not really a complicated question! Anyway the right hand margin is OK on this laptop, when I was in my mobile office with its mobile WiFi hotspot using my Net Book at lunch time the block of adverts was partially over the discussions :-) Andy |

I say I say I say, ...CEF charge more than that. I thought they didn't pass it on but that they pay for some kind of licence with it and you could take the duds back to them for disposal?
But I don't know Andy, I leave all the duds with my clients for disposal and tell them I cannot carry waste. Zs |

I have always understood that the lamp recycling service which wholesalers can offer is free to them with services being offered by various recycling firms who then get the WEEE money. For example of a scheme click here as far as I know you can arrange for free collection from your own premises if you shift enough lamps to make it worth while for the recyclers.
Now I went into Edmundsons to get a new lamp having taken the old one in with me, bought a new lamp and asked them to dispose of the old one and they got stroppy saying it had to be a lamp purchased from them, I countered with the fact it didn't cost them anything for the recycling and I had just bought the replacement from them. I was then told "it doesn't cost us anything for the recycling bin and the disposal of the lamps, but you can't just go filling the bin up!" some what of a stupid statement as far as I am concerned. So if I pay the thruppence and the recyclers get a end payment, who handles and hold the money in the mean time, also how much "commission" do they take?
