I thought it was a wimes spec, with the earth tags on the tray!
That installation wont comply with 3.02 wimes electrical spec. |

They will be under investigation for a disciplinery and I had hoped that we could have found more than just poor quality workmanship and a disregard of the design to use in the disciplinery. Sorry to be an @rse again (as usual). OK - Didn't meet spec. OK - Even if T&E and stuffing gland was specced it'd be ruff. But for Crying Out Loud: Can't just a quiet word with the contractor sort this out? Why so rabid? Any good manager (wrt your client) would be appeased with a gentle 'The situations being sorted and we won't be using that contractor again'. You'll bust a blood vessel dear. Calm down. 'Nuff Said. ------------------------- S George http://www.state-it.com |

"What reg does it break "
132.5 Environmental conditions is the T&E suitable for a water treatment facility ? 132.5 type of wiring and method of installation. the nature of the installation external influences(Mechanical stress)? 133.1.1 Every item of equipment shall comply with the appropriate British Standard I'm pretty certain the standard for stuffing glands will not say you can squeeze two cables into just the same as you can not sqeeze two T&E in one single T&E cable clip 134.1.4 Good workmanship shall be used. Electrical equipment shall be installed in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacture of the equipment Chapter 52 MrP Home in 39days |

I think the OP might have been better off titling his post - 'A contractor has used T+E when SWA was specified'
The stuffing gland issue seems pretty trivial in comparison. |

But 133.1.3 does allow equipment to be used outside of its standard - just provided that someone confirms that its no less safe that way. Is there a safety issue with two T&E cables in a gland? - Andy. |

If they are small enough to fit and for the grommet in the compression gland to take shape around them as it is offered forward, then I can't see what the problem is. 1.5mm T&E x 2 into a stuffing gland, IMHO, actually offers a better seal than 1 x 1.5mm T&E into a stuffing gland.
Just a comment, not trying to make waves. Zs |

Did the designer state on the EIC that the make up of the installation was outside the scope of the Standard and if so how did he confirm and verify that the installation provided the same degree of safety
The gland is designed to accept one cable, so not adhering to the Standard if two cables are fitted how do you confirm that the compression is not to tight causing damage to the insulation and a breakdown in insulation resistance or to slack and not offering mechanical protection and possibly IP 4X So is the installation a deviation or non compliant For my two Riyals worth its non compliant MrP |
