Hi, long time viewer, first time poster. As part of my FD I have to complete an individual project which, within reason, can be of my own choice. The FD is in Power Systems Management and we are encouraged to come up with a project that 'solves a problem' in the electrical transmission industry.

Previous projects have involved studying transformer faults, cable routes, and protection systems etc, but I am struggling to come up with any ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....?

Hi,

For a recent project of my, I looked further into a transformer and it's theory. I researched and looked into how I could make the transformer more efficiently. There is so much resources on the Internet that can be used to find out the how this can be done.

A simple transformer could then be made to try to put some of your principles into practice.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I doubt this is of any use now, but if someone see's this post in the future who has the same questions. I might be able to help.
The one thing that ever 'bugged' our plants, was when we had inverters without filters, and also DOL motors with their enormous startup currents.
I start my project for my HNC next year, and mine will be based on Inverter technologies and how to reduce harmonics etc.
Use experience from problems you've had in the past and then use the project to figure it out, and hopefully, get a solution.

Chris
